Dr Minas Petrelis

Your friendly local Orthopaedic and Upper Limb Surgeon specialising in Shoulder Surgery.

Dr Petrelis graduated from The University of Tasmania in 1989 with Bachelor of Medical Science, then later with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 1992.

He completed the Australian Orthopaedic Association training program in Newcastle and was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (Ortho) in January 2006. This fellowship in Upper Limb surgery was completed with Dr Peter Hales at Perth Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine.

He has previously held positions as the Director of Training at Royal Newcastle Centre (2016), Member of Medical Staff Council at Belmont District Hospital (2016) and Director of Training AOA for Newcastle (2010-2013). He is currently the Director of Training at Belmont District Hospital.

Dr Petrelis’ practice is located at Newcastle Orthopaedics in Charlestown. He operates at Lingard Private, Warners Bay Private, John Hunter and Belmont District hospitals, servicing Newcastle and its surrounding areas.
