Will I need a referral?

A referral from a GP or Specialist is required for your first consultation.

If you are a previous patient of Dr Petrelis’ and you are coming back for a new-injury or re-injury, a new referral will be required if after 12 months from your initial referral.

 

Will I need an X-ray or MRI?

You will need an X-ray and either an ultrasound or MRI. Referrals get reviewed and additional scans will be ordered by Dr Petrelis prior to your appointment.

 

What do I bring with me to my appointment?

  • Referral letter

  • Your most recent X-Rays

  • Copies of ultrasounds, MRI or CT scans you may have

  • Reports

  • Medicare card and health fund card

  • DVA (if applicable)

  • Medical history (if appropriate)

Dr Petrelis’ practice, Newcastle Orthopaedics, is located at 52 Smith Street, Charlestown.

Dr Petrelis operates at Lingard Private, Belmont District, Warners Bay Private and John Hunter hospitals.

 

How much is an initial consultation?

A letter or email will be forwarded to you with details of fees and appointment time prior to your consultation.

 

Is there parking available?

There is free onsite parking located at the rear of the building, as well as free street parking. Wheelchair friendly access is also available at the front door.
